What comes to mind when you are asked about important nutrients and vitamins for the bones? Most people spontaneously mention calcium, magnesium or vitamin D. However, many people are unaware of another vitamin that plays an often underestimated role in bone health: vitamin K.

Vitamin K ensures that your body can incorporate the mineral calcium into your bones. Without this vital substance, bone density decreases and the risk of fractures increases.1 With rubyni® Vitamin K, you can specifically prevent an undersupply of this important vitamin – purely plant-based and well tolerated.

rubyni® vitamin K: highly effective and natural

  • Supports bone health1,2,3
  • Protects the blood vessels from calcification (calcium deposits)3
  • made from dried & fermented parsley leaves – from sustainable cultivation
  • Highly effective source of vitamin K2 (MK-7)
  • 100% vegan, lactose- and gluten-free; 100% organic
  • One capsule provides you with 75 micrograms of vitamin K

rubyni® Vitamin K can help you meet your daily vitamin K requirements from a natural and vegan source. We use fermented parsley extract as a high-quality source. Thanks to controlled fermentation, the vitamin K in our capsules is in the form of readily available K2. Your body can absorb this form particularly well.

How much vitamin K does your body need?

Your body cannot produce vitamin K itself. You must therefore supply it with a sufficient amount every day. But how much is enough? The German Nutrition Society (DGE) gives different estimates for different age groups: For women up to the age of 50, they are 60 micrograms (µg) of vitamin K per day, for older women 65 micrograms. For men, the recommendations are 70 micrograms (up to 50 years) and 80 micrograms (over 50 years) per day.2

The European Union (EU), on the other hand, does not differentiate between genders and age groups: it uniformly recommends 75 micrograms of vitamin K per day. This is the so-called nutrient reference value (NRV for short). It serves as an orientation value for the manufacture of food supplements when it comes to the dosage of vitamins and minerals. 5

Optimally supplied with rubyni® vitamin K

One capsule of rubyni® Vitamin K provides you with 75 micrograms of vitamin K – that is 100 % of the requirement according to NRV*.

Recommended intake: We recommend that adults take one capsule a day without chewing and with sufficient liquid. As vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin, it is best to combine it with a little fat. This is possible, for example, in the form of a meal or with the help of a good vegetable oil.

Important note: People who are taking anticoagulant medication should seek medical advice before consuming vitamin K-containing food supplements.

Note: The stated recommended daily intake must not be exceeded *NRV = nutrient reference value (for adults according to the Food Information Regulation (LMIV))

rubyni® Vitamin K at a glance: What’s in our capsules

rubyni® Vitamin K is a food supplement containing vitamin K from a purely vegan source: fermented parsley leaf extract.

Ingredients:

  • Organic parsley extract (from Petroselinum crispum, 0.3% vitamin K2, menaquinone 7, MK-7)
  • Organic parsley leaf powder
  • Organic spinach powder
  • Coating agent hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (plant-based capsule shell)

Vitamin K occurs in nature in two forms: Vitamin K1 and vitamin K2. The first form is found in plant foods, for example in green leafy vegetables, broccoli, kale or parsley.3 K2 is produced by bacteria and is naturally found in animal products such as eggs, meat and dairy products.4 The MK-7 sub-form is considered to be of particularly high quality. Your body can absorb it best and utilize it directly.2,3,4

With our rubyni® vitamin K capsules, you have the opportunity to obtain high-quality K2 (MK-7) from a vegan source. This is made possible by a special fermentation process: we use special bacteria to convert the K1 from the parsley into K2.

Pack size: 90 capsules – in a tin made from recycled PET.

Note: Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced and varied diet or to replace a healthy lifestyle.

Sustainably and gently extracted

We obtain the raw material for our rubyni® vitamin K from organic parsley leaves. Parsley is grown sustainably in India. After harvesting, the leaves are dried and then mixed with helpful bacteria. These set a controlled fermentation process in motion: the vitamin K1 contained in the parsley is converted into the form vitamin K2 – more precisely MK-7.
The vitamin content in our capsules is standardized. This means that we can always provide you with consistent quality.

For the organic parsley powder and the organic spinach powder, we use vegetables from Germany that are grown sustainably and organically. Thanks to a special drying process, almost all the vitamins and minerals are retained in the powder. It therefore has raw food quality.

Good to know:

Vitamin K: Necessary for stable bones

Vitamin K helps the body to store calcium in the bone matrix. In combination with this mineral, vitamin D and magnesium, it ensures stable bones.3

Calcium and magnesium build up the mineral-containing crystals that are stored in the basic substance of your bones. This gives them the necessary stability. Your body needs vitamin D so that it can absorb sufficient calcium from food in the intestine. Vitamin K, in turn, is responsible for ensuring that the mineral gets to where it is needed: the bones.3

In combination with other vital substances, vitamin K therefore helps to maintain your bone density in old age. This naturally decreases from midlife onwards. If the process is very pronounced, experts speak of bone loss or osteoporosis. This affects around six million people in Germany – many of them women after the menopause.6 Osteoporosis increases the risk of bone fractures.1,3

Vitamin K can protect blood vessels

Vitamin K helps the body to store sufficient calcium in the bones. This effect has a positive side effect for your blood vessels: the calcium level in the blood is kept low. If the level is high, there is a greater risk of the mineral being deposited in the blood vessels and leading to vascular calcification. Such calcifications can have serious consequences. They include a heart attack or stroke, for example.3

H3: Who has an increased risk of vitamin K deficiency7?

Bacteria that play an important role in the absorption of vitamin K live in your intestines. Do you have to take an antibiotic for a long time? This can also have a negative effect on the beneficial bacteria in your intestinal flora. Your body may then no longer be able to absorb enough vitamin K. Intestinal inflammation, intestinal infections, prolonged diarrhea or irritable bowel syndrome can also lead to a vitamin K deficiency. People who cannot digest fat well are also susceptible to a deficiency. This can be the case, for example, if you have problems with your gallbladder.1

With rubyni® Vitamin K you can specifically prevent a deficiency.

What are the health benefits of vitamin K?

The rather unknown vitamin K has two essential functions in your body that are vital for your health7:
Vitamin K

  • contributes to the maintenance of normal bones
  • contributes to normal blood clotting

I work as a nutrition and health consultant and am a trained phytotherapist. Transparency, sustainability and quality are very important to me. And I have to say that rubyni® has completely won me over as a brand. The capsules contain only extremely high-quality and natural ingredients whose effectiveness has been proven by studies and which provide the body with important nutrients. I have published several videos about my personal rubyni® journey on my YouTube channel Ohlala & Solala. There I tell you even more about what makes this dietary supplement so special from my point of view.

As a biathlete, I have to be fit and able to perform at the drop of a hat. I had big problems with that in the past. My body was repeatedly weakened and I had to put up with many setbacks. When I was looking for a solution to support my immune system in the long term, my naturopath introduced me to elderberries as a superfood, among other things. I now take rubyni® with elderberries every day. The capsules are also super handy when I'm on the World Cup circuit. Rubyni® is a valuable aid for me during stressful competition phases and my immune system is finally back on top form.

For more than 25 years, my focus has been on holistic, naturopathic medicine, with a particular interest in nutritional medicine and biological topics. During this time, I have studied current research findings (e.g. on orthomolecular medicine, epigenetics, nutrigenomics, phytotherapy) in depth. From the outset, I found rubyni's philosophy of using whole fruit extracts with the complete effect profile of the entire fruit matrix exciting and convincing. That is why I was happy to take on the task of developing new products that would contain rubyni but also, in the spirit of synergistic effects, other ingredients for a specific purpose.
