Do you sometimes feel tired and exhausted even though you get enough sleep? Perhaps you lack energy in everyday life or feel less resilient. Many factors can contribute to this. One possible cause could be that you are not getting enough of the minerals or vitamins you need, such as iron.

Because iron contributes to 1,2,3

  • a reduction in tiredness and fatigue
  • a normal energy metabolism
  • normal formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin
  • normal oxygen transport in the body

rubyni EISEN PLUS provides you with natural iron thanks to its high-quality plant extracts. Its absorption in the body is supported by the natural vitamin C it also contains. Our product also contains valuable polyphenols from olives.

Iron and vitamin C from a natural source

  • Provides iron from organic curry leaf extract
  • Contains vitamin C from organic amla fruit extract
  • Provides an additional 21 mg polyphenols from olives per capsule, including 5 mg hydroxytyrosol
  • Vegan, lactose- and gluten-free

How much iron does your body need?

Your body cannot produce iron itself, but must absorb the vital trace element through your diet. The main sources include liver, meat and sausage products. However, wholemeal products and oatmeal, seeds such as sunflower seeds and vegetables such as pulses, spinach and lamb’s lettuce also contain iron. 2

The German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends a daily intake of

  • 11 milligrams of iron for men,
  • 16 mg for women up to the menopause (the last menstrual period),
  • 14 mg for women after the menopause,
  • 11 mg for women (and girls) who are not menstruating (for example, with oral contraceptives (the pill) that are taken continuously without a break),
  • 27 mg for pregnant women.

The European Union (EU) specifies a standardized nutrient reference value (NRV) of 14 mg iron per day for both sexes and all age groups (adults). 5 This value is used as a guide for the dosage of the trace element in the manufacture of food supplements.

What should you look out for when taking iron supplements?

Experts advise taking iron supplements on an empty stomach. This is because various food components inhibit iron absorption in the body. The so-called “iron robbers” 2, for example, include 5,6:

  • Calcium: It is contained in dairy products, for example.
  • Phytic acid (phytate): Wholemeal products and pulses in particular contain plenty of it.
  • Phenolic compounds such as tannins: These are found in abundance in coffee, green and black tea and red wine, for example. 7
  • Oxalic acid-containing foods: These include rhubarb, spinach and beet, for example. 8

We therefore recommend taking the daily rubyni EISEN PLUS capsule at intervals between meals (1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal) – with sufficient water and without chewing.
However, men, post-menopausal women and pregnant women should seek advice from their doctor or therapist before taking iron.

Well supplied with rubyni EISEN PLUS

Just one capsule of rubyni EISEN PLUS provides you with 11 milligrams (mg) of the essential trace element iron – that is 79% of the daily requirement according to NRV*.

Our product also contains 12 milligrams of vitamin C (15 % according to NRV*). Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron.

In addition, one capsule of rubyni EISEN PLUS provides you with 85 mg of olive fruit extract. This contains 21 mg of valuable polyphenols – i.e. secondary plant substances – including 5 mg hydroxytyrosol.

The balanced dosage preserves the iron component in its form and at the same time utilizes the antioxidant properties of the formula. Natural vitamin C from amla rounds off the plant-based combination.

Note: Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced and varied diet or to replace a healthy lifestyle.
*NRV = nutrient reference value (for adults according to the Food Information Regulation (LMIV))

Why is there vitamin C in rubyni EISEN PLUS?

In foods of animal origin, iron is found as so-called bivalent iron (Fe 2+, heme iron), which your body can utilize well. If the mineral comes from plant-based foods (non-heme iron), it is trivalent iron (Fe 3+). 5

Vitamin C increases iron absorption in the body. 1 For this reason, we have decided to include vitamin C in our rubyni EISEN PLUS.

rubyni EISEN PLUS: What’s in our capsules

  • rubyni EISEN PLUS is a food supplement with iron and vitamin C based on natural plant extracts:
We obtain the iron from the leaves of the curry tree(Murraya koenigii), which is grown organically in India. The iron compound is extracted from the curry leaves in a water-based process – without the addition of other ingredients, which means that the natural plant matrix is largely preserved.
This natural and high-quality source of iron with its balanced dosage is particularly suitable for vegetarians and vegans as well as people with sensitive stomachs.
  • Amla fruit extract provides natural vitamin C, which is present in its natural form as ascorbate. The amla fruits are organically grown in India, more precisely in Tamil Nadu and the highlands of Ooty, a region known for the cultivation of high-quality amla. They are processed gently.
  • Our product also contains an extract from olives(Olea europaea). Around 240 kilograms (kg) of olives are used for 1 kg of extract – this results in a high-quality concentration of the valuable ingredients. Gentle processing ensures that the valuable ingredients are largely retained.

Good to know:

Iron: The “oxygen cab” in your body

Iron is a so-called trace element – this means that your body only needs traces, i.e. very small amounts of it. Nevertheless, it is vital for you because it fulfills many important tasks. 2, 4

Iron contributes to normal oxygen transport in the body and to the normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin. Haemoglobin is the red blood pigment: the iron-containing protein is the most important component of your red blood cells and can bind oxygen. The blood cells transport the oxygen to the cells in your body. 3,9

Iron also contributes to normal energy metabolism – as well as to reducing tiredness and fatigue. Energy is produced in the mitochondria, the power plants of your cells. Iron is a component of special protein building blocks that play an important role in this process.

Adequate iron intake through the diet is therefore important. In certain situations, it may also be useful to supplement your iron intake with food supplements. It is best to seek advice from your doctor or therapist.

A woman stands outside in the warm sunlight with her eyes closed and her arms outstretched. The scene conveys a feeling of energy, lightness and inner balance and symbolizes well-being and new vitality.
A smiling woman with freckles leans her head relaxed on her hands and radiates well-being and inner balance. The warm lighting mood emphasizes a feeling of vitality and natural balance.

Who should pay particular attention to their iron intake?

Women with regular periods in particular should make sure that they always consume enough iron – especially if their periods are heavy. 10

In addition, some groups can more quickly become undersupplied with the important trace element. 11 These include, for example: 2, 9

  • People with an unbalanced diet
  • Vegetarians and vegans – they often consume too little of it
  • People with intestinal problems, as their iron absorption may be impaired
  • People who regularly donate blood – or after operations
  • Pregnant women – their requirement is significantly increased
  • People who do a lot of sport. They also excrete iron with their sweat

What rubyni EISEN PLUS contains

We only use high-quality, purely plant-based, natural branded raw materials for our products.

Olivex , a registered trademark of Grap’Sud, is an extract from the fruits of Olea europaea and standardized for total polyphenols, hydroxytyrosol and tyrosol. Using ~240 kg of olives for 1 kg of extract demonstrates the intensive quality of the raw material and the high concentration of valuable ingredients.

What are the health benefits of iron?

Expert in nutritional medicine

For more than 25 years, my focus has been on holistic, naturopathic medicine, with a particular interest in nutritional medicine and biological topics. During this time, I have studied current research findings (e.g. on orthomolecular medicine, epigenetics, nutrigenomics, phytotherapy) in depth. From the outset, I found rubyni's philosophy of using whole fruit extracts with the complete effect profile of the entire fruit matrix exciting and convincing. That is why I was happy to take on the task of developing new products that would contain rubyni but also, in the spirit of synergistic effects, other ingredients for a specific purpose.
