rubyni® Vitamin K from vegan raw materials

We use a vegan source for our rubyni Vitamin K: The capsules contain an extract from fermented parsley leaves. The vitamin K is therefore present as K2 (in the form of MK7).

Your body needs vitamin K for two key processes: It helps maintain normal bone health and supports normal blood clotting.2

  • Fermented organic parsley extract as a source of vitamin K2 (form: MK7)
  • One capsule contains 75 micrograms (µg) of vitamin K
  • vegan, lactose- and gluten-free
  • 100% organic
  • No added preservatives

How much vitamin K does your body need?

Vitamin K must be obtained primarily through the diet. But how much do we need? The German Nutrition Society (DGE) provides estimated values for various age groups:3

  • Women up to age 50: 60 µg of vitamin K per day,
  • Women 51 and older: 65 µg daily,
  • Men up to age 50: 70 µg per day,
  • Men aged 51 and older: 80 µg daily.

The European Union (EU), on the other hand, does not distinguish between genders or age groups and specifies a uniform daily intake of 75 µg of vitamin K. This is known as the Nutrient Reference Value (NRV). It serves as a guideline for manufacturers of dietary supplements when it comes to labeling vitamins and minerals.4

Understanding Vitamin K: Two Forms, Different Sources

Fat-soluble vitamin K occurs naturally in two forms: vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) and vitamin K2 (menaquinone, abbreviated MK). The first form is found in plant-based foods, particularly in green leafy vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, kale, and parsley.5,6

K2 is produced by bacteria—and is naturally present in animal products such as eggs, meat, and dairy products when these foods are consumed.7,8 There are several subtypes of K2, and MK7 is one of them.

When storing food, it is important to note that vitamin K is sensitive to light. Storing food away from light can help preserve its vitamin content.7

Note: Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced and varied diet or to replace a healthy lifestyle.

rubyni® Vitamin K at a Glance

rubyni Vitamin K is a dietary supplement that contains vitamin K2 from a purely vegan source: fermented organic parsley extract.
We source the raw material for this from parsley that is organically grown in India. After harvesting, the leaves are gently dried and then inoculated with bacteria that trigger a controlled fermentation process, during which vitamin K2 in the form of MK7 is produced.
The vitamin content in our capsules is standardized. This means we can always provide you with consistent quality.

In addition, our product contains organic spinach powder and organic parsley leaf powder. We use vegetables from Germany that are also organically grown.

Good to know:

Vitamin K: Contributes to normal bone health and normal blood clotting

When it comes to important nutrients for bones, most people first think of calcium, vitamin D, and magnesium. Calcium and magnesium are components of the mineral structure of bones.9 Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium from food. Less well known in this context is vitamin K: It also helps maintain normal bones.

Another interesting detail: Bone density changes as we age. An active lifestyle and a balanced diet can contribute to overall bone health.10

What role does vitamin K play in blood clotting?

When we injure ourselves, blood clotting ensures that the bleeding stops. It occurs as a step-by-step chain reaction, known as the coagulation cascade.11 Vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting.2

Note: Some people take anticoagulant medications. Some of these work by inhibiting vitamin K. Therefore, people taking anticoagulant medications should consult a doctor before taking dietary supplements containing vitamin K. This is especially true when taking other medications, including antibiotics, that may affect the body’s utilization of vitamin K.12,13

Expert in nutritional medicine

For more than 25 years, my focus has been on holistic, naturopathic medicine, with a particular interest in nutritional medicine and biological topics. During this time, I have studied current research findings (e.g. on orthomolecular medicine, epigenetics, nutrigenomics, phytotherapy) in depth. From the outset, I found rubyni's philosophy of using whole fruit extracts with the complete effect profile of the entire fruit matrix exciting and convincing. That is why I was happy to take on the task of developing new products that would contain rubyni but also, in the spirit of synergistic effects, other ingredients for a specific purpose.
